We often grow up being told that if we work hard, we'll be successful. Implicit in this line of thinking is the idea that when we're successful, we'll finally get to be happy and do whatever we want to do. Although our parents and teachers were trying to be helpful giving us these messages, they didn't know the whole truth.
New research provides evidence that experiencing happiness actually leads to success! It's the secret sauce that many high achievers tap into. Other people may assume that these high achievers are happy because of their success but research shows that the happiness actually comes first and enhances performance.
I've worked with people who've experienced burnout, felt "stressed and not themselves," some who were "very emotional and often losing their cool" and some who've had a more formal diagnosis of generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, PTSD, complex PTSD, OCD and depression or who have experienced childhood trauma. The important thing is that you know that you want more in life and you're ready for change.
Rebecca was feeling extremely stressed and sought help with her fear because she was feeling "broken and not myself." Rebecca was worried that she wouldn't find herself again but she learnt to deal with her feelings from the past, stop carrying things with her and felt herself "coming alive again."
